Statement of Need:

This symposium will address the complexity of cerebrovascular diseases, their various treatment options and the different practices employed in the U.S. and internationally for cerebrovascular patient management. Using real-life case presentations and QA opportunities, our goal is to foster an effective exchange of ideas and management strategies with clinicians from different backgrounds.

Objectives:

  • Identify the heterogeneity of specific cerebrovascular diseases, including acute ischemic stroke, carotid artery stenosis, ruptured cerebral aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, and outline strategies for appropriate diagnosis and long-term management of patients.
  • Determine appropriate imaging strategies for cerebrovascular disorders.
  • Recognize the options for treatment, including medical (i.e. antiplatelet, anticoagulation and strain therapy), neurosurgical and endovascular, to achieve the best clinical outcomes.
